Teaching

We always want to bring out the best in our students so we offer them a great deal of support and encourage them.

Here at Saint Kevin’s we follow our tailor made Learning Cycle.

We guarantee that all Pupils will be provided with high-quality learning experiences that lead to consistently high Pupil achievement levels as part of our Teaching and Learning Policy. Saint Kevin’s Pupils and staff will follow the Saint Kevin’s Learning Cycle.

By applying the Saint Kevin’s Learning Cycle, we aim:

  • To provide consistency of Teaching and Learning across every year group and class.

  • To enable teachers to teach as effectively
    as possible.

  • To outline some of the key elements which are crucial to raising standards in Teaching and Learning.

  • To set out a broad structure for lessons, based
on best practice and research linked to how we best learn.

By applying the Saint Kevin’s Learning Cycle, we aim to provide consistency of Teaching and Learning.

At Saint Kevin's College, we also aim to utilise online platforms to enhance learning and teaching. As a school, we have become confident in the use of Google suite and are one of only a handful of accredited Google Reference schools in Northern Ireland. As such we make wide use of Google Classroom and the full Google suite for Education programs, which enables our Students to benefit from engaging and helpful new technologies as they progress throughout their time in Saint Kevin’s College.

Pupils will experience a hybrid approach to learning which is also outlined in our School development plan. This offers Pupils a range of learning styles and they are able to engage with a broad selection of resources. As a result, lessons will be engaging and will cater for pupils of all learning styles and abilities. Pupils will receive homework tasks to consolidate learning which will be issued on the SIMS app to allow both parents and pupils to monitor work issued and completed together.
