Positive Team Spirit

21st April 2025

Our U14 girls Gaelic team traveled to Donegal to face Abbey Vocational School in the Ulster Semi-Final last week. The girls started strong, leading 1-5 to 0-2 with 15 minutes into the first half. However, Abbey Vocational School made a comeback, and the halftime score was 1-6 to 1-5. The girls continued to work hard, with our half-forwards Aoife, Emer, and Caoimhe, along with midfielders Niamh and Grace, putting in great effort to defend. Our forwards excelled, with captain Ava scoring some fantastic points and excellent attacking play from Erin, Eire, and Kia. Our defense was outstanding, with Rebecca, Anna, Amy, and Orla making crucial interceptions. Goalkeeper Katie made some incredible saves, and her kick-outs were exceptional. Unfortunately, in a closely contested match, we lost to a strong Abbey Vocational School team with a score of 2-9 to 1-7. The referee praised the girls for their positive team spirit and for playing the game honestly and fairly throughout.

Miss Devlin and Miss Donaghy would like to thank each of the girls for their hard work and dedication, staying after school since October. We are very proud of them for reaching this stage in such a competitive tournament. We are confident that their hard work and development will continue to shine as they begin their club games, and they will return even stronger next year.
